CPCA Quebec Chapter Partners With CEGEP to Launch French-Language Polyurea Training Program

The CPCA Quebec Chapter has announced a landmark educational partnership with Cegep de Saint-Laurent in Montreal to develop a comprehensive French-language polyurea training curriculum. The program, expected to launch in January 2026, represents the first accredited French-language polyurea training pathway in North America.

“Quebec’s construction and infrastructure sector is enormous, and there has always been a gap in French-language technical training for specialty coatings,” said CPCA Quebec Chapter Chair Denis Beauchamp. “This partnership with Cegep de Saint-Laurent fills that gap and will professionalize polyurea application in this market in a meaningful way.”

Program Structure

The program will be offered as a 40-hour continuing education certificate through Cegep de Saint-Laurent’s professional development division. Students will complete 20 hours of theory — covering polyurea chemistry, surface preparation, quality control, health and safety, and Canadian regulatory compliance — plus 20 hours of hands-on practical training using commercial proportioning equipment.

Graduates of the Cegep certificate program will receive credit toward the CPCA’s Canadian Polyurea Specialist (CPS) Level 1 certification. To complete the CPS Level 1, they will also need to pass the CPCA’s standardized practical assessment. More information about the CPS certification program is available on our website.

Why This Matters

Quebec represents approximately 23% of Canada’s total construction market. Despite the province’s massive infrastructure rehabilitation requirements — especially in aging municipal water infrastructure — the polyurea market in Quebec has been underleveraged compared to Ontario and Alberta. Industry analysts project this partnership will accelerate Quebec’s adoption of polyurea in infrastructure projects as more certified, French-speaking applicators enter the market.

The Quebec market represents a significant opportunity in all segments covered in our 2025-2030 market outlook.

Enrollment and Dates

Enrollment for the inaugural cohort will open in September 2025. Class size is limited to 20 students. CPCA members will receive advance notice and a $150 tuition discount. Subscribe to the Polyurea Insider to be notified when enrollment opens.

The Quebec Chapter’s next regular meeting is June 24, 2025 in Montreal. Details and RSVP are available on the events calendar.
